/02/2008 : First Phase
of Design Finished For Brunel Motorsport
The Brunel Masters Motorsport team finished the
first phase of the design for the BMM-04
car, which will compete this July
in the Formula Student competition at Silverstone. The
team made an amazing effort to complete this tough
step, as all the members had to work
really hard to get the model done on
time.
The CAD model incorporates all the parts with a high
detail of accuracy that are ready to be
tested by FEA and CFD modules. This preliminary
assembly is also very useful in order to
check interference among different parts,
showing which parts need to be slightly modified
to avoid future
problems.
The software package
used by the team is Solid Works 2007 which is possibly the most
used
software among Formula Student teams. This
software is also capable of performing FEA, CFD
and simulating the motion of some mechanisms of the
car, such as suspension or steering. The next milestone for the squad will
be to finish the simulations prior to manufacturing,
which is scheduled to start in 4 weeks.
