/11/2007 : BMM Formula Student Team Meet Richard
Noble
On Monday November
19th, the members of the Brunel Masters Motorsport
team got the chance to
meet the current land speed record holder, Mr. Richard Noble during
a lecture organised by
one of lecturers Mrs. Petra Gratton. To say that it was
inspirational is an
understatement.
Mr. Noble spoke to us
for about two hours about his 'land speed record' projects,
the Farnborough F1, project management and
seeking sponsors. The section of his
presentation dedicated to funding and managing his projects was
very useful and it gave us
some ideas on how we can approach our
project.
As you can imagine, the highlight of his
presentation was about the Thrust SSC and his
work on the JCB Dieselmax land speed record cars. A full
multimedia presentation captured our
attention as we were transported into the world of land speed record
breaking. He also found time to give us a
very brief lecture on high speed aerodynamics and
answered many of our questions before
concluding.
It was a presentation that would inspire
anyone and I am sure some of us would have liked
him to continue for another hour but it was not to be.
However, we left inspired to get our project
completed and put into practice with some of Mr. Noble's
tips.
